Nominations Will Open for TMM Club Board of Directors beginning May 14, 2020

May 13, 2020

Nominations for positions open on the Club’s Board of Directors are open beginning May 14th  and will close on May 24th, 2020. Voting for the upcoming election for four positions on the club Board of Directors will begin May 25th and end June 13th. The TMMRC By-Laws detail that our Board of Directors be composed of a president, a vice president, a past president, a secretary, a treasurer, and four directors.  The following offices are open for nomination for the period starting July 1, 2020: president (1-year term), vice-president (1-year term), social director (two year term) and membership director (two year term). An individual must be a member in good standing to be nominated for any position.

Due to the current concerns with the Covid virus, we will not have an in-person General Meeting this year. Instead we will have a virtual, online meeting of the newly elected board on June 14. If you would like to join this meeting please send an email to EJ Maldonado at thestreeeker@gmail.com. He will provide a link for you to join the meeting.

Nomination procedure: Nominations can be submitted to current President EJ Maldonado ( thestreeeker@gmail.com).  The nomination cut-off date is May 24th.  The final list of nominees will be announced via newsletter and social media in advance of the annual virtual meeting on June 14.  The Board may consider other eligible individuals in addition to those whose names have been submitted.  Officers and directors shall be elected based upon those receiving the most votes from the general membership.

Voting procedure: Votes by club members in good standing may be cast by June 13 via e-mail or regular mail (specific details of how to vote via e-mail will be provided at the end of the nomination period on May 24th). The President will retain documentation of each vote cast for 30 days.

Specific positions up for 2020 election at the General Membership meeting on June 14

PRESIDENT: elected to a one year term beginning on July 1 and terminates on June 30 of the following year.  The office of the President is open to all members in good standing and is voted for at the General Meeting each year.  The President presides at all meetings of the TMMRC Board.  He/she shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.  The president is the chief executive officer and enforces all of the provisions, objects and purposes of the organization.  The President shall discharge such other duties as may from time to time be required by the Board. The President is responsible for running monthly meetings, managing the events of the club and interfacing with the Road Runners Club of American (RRCA) as needed.

VICE PRESIDENT: elected to a one year term beginning on July 1 and terminates on June 30 of the following year.   The office of the Vice President is open to all members in good standing and is voted for at the General Meeting each year.  The Vice President assists with the day to day operations of the club, and steps in to run meetings when the President is unable to attend.  The Vice President shall discharge such other duties as may from time to time be required by the President or Board.

SOCIAL DIRECTOR: Determines location of Monthly meeting and makes any arrangements needed to obtain reservations. Works with Run Director to set up “Fun Runs” throughout year

Works with the Board of Directors to set the date and location of Annual and Christmas meetings. Works with members to obtain necessary food, drink, and equipment needed for fun events.

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR: Maintains Membership list. Maintains Distribution list. Alerts members when membership renewal is due.

Other Board Position of Interest:

PAST PRESIDENT: The Past President retains his/her vote on the board for one year following Presidency. The role is advisory but he/she is expected to attend monthly meetings to ensure that a quorum is met. After one year, if the sitting President is elected for another term, the Past President shall have the choice to stay on the Board as Past President or vacate the position.

If the Past President vacates the position, a fifth Director (at-Large) position will be added until such time that there is a new Past President.

If anyone has any questions about this election cycle or other club business, please contact current President EJ Maldonado, at thestreeeker@gmail.com, or call/text to 775-232-4737.
