CLUB TRAIL RUNS One of the club's favorite activities is in offering trail running enthusiasts a variety of adventure runs through some of Lake Tahoe's beautiful forested areas and in nearby Desolation, Granite Chief, Moukelumne and Mt. Rose Wildernesses, the Meiss Back Country, or along the Tahoe Rim Trail. If you live in the Sacramento Valley, the Reno/Carson City area, or are just visiting in the Lake Tahoe area and wish you could find a place for that long weekend run that's out of the heat and off of the pavement, then the TMMRC may have just the thing for you and your club members. Let the Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club host you on a trail run you will never forget! DESOLATION WILDERNESS All visitors (including runners) must have a wilderness permit. Day users (that's us) may issue themselves wilderness permits from any of the east-side (Lake Tahoe Basin) trail heads. For west-side entry, not all trail heads have self-registration available, so permits must be obtained in person at any nearby Forest Service office. Overnight users must register at the Forest Service office or Visitor Center in South Lake Tahoe or at the Eldorado Information Center in Camino. Runners should be prepared for numerous hazards such as high water stream crossings and sudden stormy weather which can occur at any time. You should plan to bring adequate water, energy replacement and first-aid supplies for a strenuous middle to long distance run. Always let someone know your run itinerary and estimated return time before leaving.
