Q ‐ Is there a host hotel?
A ‐The Plaza Hotel in the heart of Carson City just a few blocks from the packet pick‐up location. The hotel address is 801 S. Carson Street, Carson City, NV (775) 883‐9500.
Q – Where is the packet pick up site?
A‐ The packet pick‐up and 100 mile participant weight‐in, and drop bag drop off point takes place at the State of Nevada Legislative Grounds, just south of the Nevada State Capital. The street address for the Nevada State Capitol is 101 North Carson Street. The best place to park is one block west in a public parking area on Curry Street and 3rd Street.
100‐Milers: PLEASE make every attempt to complete your mandatory weigh-in by no later than 3:30 pm so you’ll be able to make the briefing in time, which begins at 4 pm. Last year we had several people show up at the last minute, still needing to be weighed.
Q – Where will the 100‐mile pre‐race briefing take place?
A ‐ The pre‐race briefing takes place inside the legislative building adjacent to packet pick‐up. The room number will be announced on Friday, July 18, 2014. It will start at 4 pm.
Q‐ Where should I leave my drop bags?
A ‐ Drop Bags are due at the drop off point at Nevada Legislative Grounds by no later than 3 pm for 100 mile runners and 50 mile runners. The aid stations that will have drop bags are Hobart, Tunnel Creek and Diamond Peak and the 100 mile will also have the 50‐mile aid station. For Hobart drop bags they must be at the drop off on Friday before 3 pm or they will not go to the aid station.
Q – I’m not running the 100‐miler. Can I drop off my drop bags on race morning?
A ‐ 50‐Mile runners can drop their bags by 3 pm on Friday with the 100‐mile bags or by no later than 6am on race morning. In order to help assure your drop bag will be waiting for you at scheduled aid stations it is strongly recommended to drop them off on Friday. Saturday morning drop off service will only be available to Tunnel Creek and Diamond Peak aid stations. There is no drop bag service for 50K runners!
Q – When will my drop bags return from the aid stations?
A ‐ Please be aware that we CANNOT guarantee that 50‐mile drop bags will be returned from our aid station until approximately 10am on Sunday and approximately 3 pm on Sunday from Tunnel Creek and Hobart. This is the worst case scenario. We will make every reasonable effort to return them as early as possible but understand our aid stations are in the back country and staff will have limited opportunities to return them as we are required by our permit to limit the amount of back country vehicle travel to essential trips only. If a vehicle leaves an aid station travelling to the start/finish, they will bring as many drop bags as possible if it’s known that those runners have made their final visit to that aid station. Knowing this, please plan and pack drop backs accordingly. Any unclaimed 50M drop bags and all 100‐mile drop bags will be available at the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon at Spooner Lake State Park.
Q – I don’t remember if I purchased a shuttle bus ticket? How can I find out?
A – The shuttle bus tickets were not available on our UltraSignup.com registration for 2014. You need to purchase one from our Store. You will also receive a “bus ticket” when you check in at the Nevada Legislative Grounds on Friday.
Q – I checked my confirmation for a shuttle bus ticket and apparently I didn’t purchase one. Can I still buy one?
A – Yes, as long as there are still seats available on the shuttle buses you can purchase them in our ONLINE STORE. There may be some tickets available on Friday at the Nevada Legislative Grounds during packet pick‐up. They are $12 each.

Q – Where do I catch the shuttle bus and at what time?
A – There will be two 47‐passenger coaches that will pick up runners at the Carson Plaza Hotel. There will be two pick‐up/departure times. Both coaches will arrive for the first run at 3:15 am with departure for Spooner Lake State Park at 3:30 am. 100‐MILE RUNNERS HAVE PRIORITY SEATING ON THE FIRST TWO COACHES. If there is space available then 50‐mile and 50K runners may also depart on the first coaches. Both coaches will return for their second trip at approximately 4:15 am with departure at 4:30am (or once full, whichever comes first). Please check‐in with the race official before departure.
Q‐ Can I camp at Spooner Lake State Park?
A – No, our permit does not allow any overnight camping by participants.
Q‐ Can I camp at the satellite parking areas at Spooner Junction (US‐50 and SR‐28)?
A – No, there is no camping allowed in these areas. Local law enforcement officials patrol these areas and MAY ask you to move and/or issue citations. Plus, parking at these lots is a precious commodity for our event. Parking staff do the best they can to squeeze every possible space out of these lots. People parking overnight can take up valuable space by parking in the wrong place or direction.
Q‐ Can I camp at Diamond Peak Ski Resort?
A – No. We have a very special relationship with the resort so we don’t want to jeopardize their support. They have asked us to let everyone know that there is NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING. Parking during the early morning hours on Sunday to support 100‐mile runners is permissible.
Q‐ Where is race day parking located?
A – It is highly recommended that you utilize the shuttle bus service that takes you from the
Plaza Hotel to the start at Spooner State Park. There is shuttle van service to take runners back to the Plaza Hotel in Carson City following the race. Shuttle vans will provide rides back to Carson City on the hour. Parking at Spooner State Park is off‐site and vehicles will be directed by our parking staff on race morning to optimize the space we have. You cannot park in Spooner State Park. There is no overnight camping at Spooner Lake State Park and at Diamond Peak Ski Resort. Crew and family are highly recommended to park at the corner of US Highway 50 and State Route 28. There is a large dirt area with a trailhead access that actually provides the easiest access to the start/finish area. Please have your family and crews use this parking and not use the race participant parking.
Q‐ How do I get back to my car after the event?
A – Shuttle vans will be available to return runners to the vehicle located within satellite parking areas approximately once an hour (more often during peak hours).
Q‐ Can I bring my dog(s)?
A – Dogs are allowed within Spooner Lake Park but they MUST remain on leash at all times. Even though they are allowed we strongly encourage family, friends, safety runners and crew to leave their dogs at home. The start/finish is crowded and full of activity. Dogs would only add to this situation. There are NO DOGS allowed at Diamond Peak Ski Resort or at the Tunnel Creek aid station. People bringing their dogs to these locations will be immediately asked to leave until they secure their animals at a different location.
Q – Are there finisher’s awards?
A – The 50K and 50 mile finishers will receive a finisher’s award at the finish line upon completing the race. The 100 mile runners will receive their finisher’s belt buckle at the awards ceremony at the start/finish ‐line area following the 35 hour cut‐off at 4 pm. The awards ceremony will begin shortly after 4 PM.
Q – Is there a pre‐race dinner?
A – No, there is no organized dinner. Downtown Carson City is blessed with many great restaurants ready for your business. Some suggestions for downtown:

Sassafras is a fun and eclectic restaurant.
The Basil Thai Food
Garibaldi’s is a high end Italian restaurant.
The south end of town also has an Olive Garden and the Fandango Casino also has an Italian restaurant that is very good and is very reasonably priced. Enjoy!
Q – Post race food?
A – TRT will have food trucks beginning Saturday afternoon, continuing into the early evening and again at the 100 mile award ceremony on Sunday beginning at approximately 4:00 pm following the 35 hour cut‐off at the start/finish line area. Race participants will receive one
meal with their race bib, crew members, pacers and family members will need to purchase their meals at the food truck of their choice.
Q – Swag?
A – We are pleased to have a partnership with Patagonia for our race shirts. All race participants willreceive a Patagonia shirt upon check‐in. This year we will have TRT visors $15 and caps for sale at $20 each and a limited number of Patagonia jackets (both men and women sizes) embroidered with the TRT logo for $140. We will also have other swag previously never seen before on sale during the race weekend. Yes we accept credit cards!
Q – Are pacers allowed?
A‐ Yes. TRT allows pacers for 50 mile and 100 mile runners. 50 Mile runners can pick up their safety runner in only one location the 30‐mile aid station at Diamond Peak. 100‐mile runners can pick up a pacer at the 50 mile aid station located in at the start/finish area and at mile 80 Diamond Peak aid station. Sign in and waiver signatures will be required at both location.
Q ‐ Aid Station food?
A – We at TRT our very proud to support you with some of the best aid stations in any ultra in the country. Each aid station has their own theme and we leave it up to them to come up with their unique food items. During the daytime hours you will find pretty standard aid station fair such as PB&J’s and boiled potatoes and snacks, you may even find an Ensure smoothie if you ask nicely. At night the 50 mile and 100 mile runners are treated to a plethora of hot food. I will make sure that each aid station has a vegan option for hot food.
Q – My family/crew will be waiting for me at the Diamond Peak aid station. Where can they eat?
A ‐ Louise’s Grill at Diamond Peak will be available again this year. It will feature hamburger and hot dogs which will include a cold drink and a slice of watermelon at $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids. There will be black bean burgers for vegetarians, also. Hours of operation will be from approximately 10am to 2 pm on Saturday. Also on the way to Diamond Peak there is a café right on HWY 28 called the Tunnel Creek Café. Good people run it and also have a very nice menu.
Q – What happens if I need to drop from the race?
A – Well, this answer varies depending on where you need to drop. First off, and most importantly, you must notify the aid station captain that you are dropping from the event. At that point your bib number will be removed, indicating you’ve dropped. If you drop at Diamond Peak your chances are fairly good that you’ll be able to catch a ride back to Spooner Lake State Park without too long of a delay. We have had a major problem with runners
dropping at Diamond Peak and having their crew member hand their bib to anyone or no one at all. All we know is that you are lost on course and may be forced to call search and rescue at your own expense. Please make sure if you drop at Diamond Peak tell the aid station captain so he can collect your race bib and we know you are safe.
If you drop at one of the back country aid stations you may have to wait up to several hours before transportation back to the start/finish may be available. So, before you make your final decision, find a chair, get some fluids and food into you, and then rest a while to see if you can recover. Many runners in this situation have found this to help them collect themselves and are able to finish. On the other end of the spectrum, if either the aid station Captain or medical staff makes the decision that you are not in condition to continue they have the authority to pull you from the event – Their determination is final.
