| Runners pause for a moment at the dam on Mexican Ditch |
DESCRIPTION
This is a truly beautiful trail run of about 4-5 miles of fairly
easy grade under the willows between Mexican Ditch and the Carson River.
You have the option of increasing the grade and distance
considerably by running up the back side of Prison Hill.
This area is also known as Silver Saddle Ranch.
| |
Dog friendly run but dogs must be leashed in the main ranch area and generally
at all times during the summer. This is a popular equestrian park so be sure Rover
is polite to horses.
|
| |
Restroom facilities at the main ranch area in summertime otherwise the willows and bitterbrush are your
only options.

DIRECTIONS
Mexican Ditch is on the east side of
Prison Hill (aka Green Water Tank). These directions are the simplest but the quickest route for you depends
on where you live in Carson City: Take Koontz Lane to Edmonds
(almost to the water tower) and turn LEFT. Continue on Edmonds (which merges with
Fairview Drive just behind the prison) to the round-about at 5th. Turn RIGHT up 5th
and take the next RIGHT onto Carson River Road. Silver Saddle Ranch is about
a mile or so up, on your right. We park just outside the gates in wintertime or
1/2 mile into the park at the main ranch buildings in summertime.
We usually carpool from Round Hill Safeway.
