Summer Solstice Fun Run in Bijou Park |
DESCRIPTION
We meet at Bijou Community Park and Lake Tahoe Community College, across Al Tahoe from Bijou,
for several runs of varying distances and terrain.
Don't like the one we've chosen? Then join us anyway - there are plenty of alternatives.
Larry B's Loop is a 5-mile all-road
run we sometimes take in the winter when other options are closed. LTCC Bike Path is
used the first couple of weeks of Tahoe Fit Marathon Training as it provides a safe, well-measured
pathway. LTCC Trails, used for the annual Run for Literacy 5K/10K in late May,
offers mildly hilly single-track running through woods and meadows. Bijou Park, site
of our annual Summer Solstice Fun Run every June, has similar terrain as the LTCC Trails but is much shorter.

Larry B's Loop is all-road, the LTCC Bike path is along busy Al Tahoe Blvd., and Bijou Park doesn't
allow dogs. However, if our run is listed as "LTCC Trails" then it is a good day to bring Rover.
|
| |
There is a bathroom in Bijou Park that is usually closed in winter. LTCC trails has lots of trees and shrubs.

DIRECTIONS
From US HWY 50 in South Lake Tahoe, turn up Al Tahoe Blvd. From Pioneer
Trail, turn down Al Tahoe Blvd. We meet at Bijou Park, about halfway along
Al Tahoe (a mile or so), across from Lake Tahoe Community College. We usually park near the
first covered picnic area.
For LTCC Trail runs, we usually park in the Community College parking lot near the
Athletic Center (on your left as you enter).
