DESCRIPTION

This is nice out-and-back run along the old Highway 50 grade up Clear Creek Canyon. You can make the run as long as you want. We usually drive up to the gate at the end of Clear Creek Canyon Road and run from there but you can also park at Costco and run from there. Throad portion is a good option in winter when the upper trail is snow-bound but is not dog-friendly and you'll have to deal with the occasional car.

Leash-free dogs OK above the gate but are not safe below the gate.

No bathroom facilities but plenty of trees or stop at Costco as you pass by.

Clear Creek Road is the first traffic light south of the Hwy 50/Hwy 395 intersection. It is where you turn when you go to Costco. If our run instructions state "Meet at Costco" then park near the Gas Station area. Otherwise, drive 4.2 miles up to the end of the road and park on the dirt to the left immediately before the "State Property - No Trespassing" sign. When you see the Youth Facility sign on the right, you're there.
