Charging up Tahoe Mountain Road

Charging up Tahoe Mountain Road

DESCRIPTION

We have a lot of options for single-track runs from this spot: The 10 mile Tahoe Mountain Loop starts from here, the long climb up to the Angora Lookout also starts here. Washoe Meadows in the summer is popular but requires about 1/3 of a mile run along Lake Tahoe Blvd. This is our summer Tuesday/Thursday evening run spot with 2-4 mile runs being popular.

Bullet - Caution Dog Moderately dog friendly but be prepared to leash him for small sections while close to Lake Tahoe Blvd. Tahoe Mountain Loop is NOT appropriate for dogs.

Bullet - Outhouse Pit toilets at Sawmill Pond

DIRECTIONS

Take US HWY 50 through South Lake Tahoe to the intersection with SR 89 (also known as "The Y"). Do not turn right or left here, even if your car insists on it out of habit! Proceed straight through and drive a little less than 2 miles to Sawmill Pond, on your left. Turn left onto Sawmill Road then immediately left into the Sawmill Pond parking area. We park on the dirt verge as soon as we turn towards the parking area.

If you're coming in from the Myers area, then turn down Sawmill Pond Rd (immediately after you cross the Truckee River after Elks Club Rd). Drive almost to the end and turn right into Sawmill Pond Park.
