The Course and Aid Stations
America's Most Beautiful Relay
Leg One (9.8 miles): Start to Zephyr Cove - Start at Emerald Bay Physical Therapy, 807
Emerald Bay Rd. Hwy 89; turn left at Highway 50 then proceed along the lakeside of Hwy
50 through South Lake Tahoe. The first
aid station will be in front of McDonald’s Restaurant near the intersection of
Wildwood Ave. (5.2mi). Continue through the California/Nevada state line, past
the casinos to transition at Zephyr Cove.
Leg Two (8.3 miles): Zephyr Cove to Spooner
Summit - Start from Zephyr Cove and proceed along Highway 50 to the aid station
on the shoulder at the Vista Point at Logan Shoals, then on to the transition
area at the junction of Hwy 50 and 28 at Spooner Summit.
Leg Three
(10.2 miles): Spooner Summit to Incline Village - Start at the junction of Hwy
50 and 28 at Spooner Summit and proceed along Highway 28 to Incline
Village. The aid station will be at the
entrance to the Secret Harbor parking lot near the Carson City/Washoe County
line. Continue from there to the
transition area at the junction of Highway 28 and Lake Shore Drive in Incline
Village.
Leg Four (5.6 miles): Incline Village to Stateline,
North Shore - Start west on Lake Shore Drive and proceed to the aid station at
the comer of Mays Blvd. on to the junction with Hwy 28. Continue west on Highway 28, just past the
Nevada State Line to the transition at the Cal Neva Lodge.
Leg Five (6.7 miles): Stateline to Cedar
Flat - Start from Cal Neva Lodge and continue west on Highway 28 to the aid
station at Tahoe Vista. Continue west along Highway 28 to the transition at
Cedar Flats near the intersection of Highway 28 and Larden Way.
Leg Six (10.7 miles): Cedar Flat to
Homewood - Start from Larden Way and continue west on Highway 28 through Tahoe
City, turn left on Highway 89 heading south on the west shore of Lake Tahoe to
the aid station across from Corpus Cristi Catholic church. Then continue south to the transition area
across from Homewood Ski Resort.
Leg
Seven (10.0 miles):
Homewood to D. L. Bliss - Start from Homewood Ski Resort and continue south on
Highway 89 to the aid station at Meeks Bay Vista lookout. Then continue along Highway 89 south to the
transition area just past D. L. Bliss State Park entrance.
Leg
Eight (10.7
miles): D. L. State Park to Finish -
Start at D. L. Bliss State Park and continue south on Highway 89 through
beautiful Emerald Bay to the aid station at Cascade Creek. Continue along Highway 89 south to the
finish on Highway 89 in South Lake Tahoe.
• Water will be available at all transitions
and aid stations. Additionally, there
will be porta potties and food available at all transitions.
• Course distances are approximated and
may be long or short as much as 2/10 mi.
• Teams are requested to have no more
than 2 vehicles on the course (preferably one!) to cut down on traffic and
parking at transitions as much as possible.
• Runners must obey all traffic
signs/signals, and be alert to traffic and other hazards. It is recommended that legs 6 and 8 use the
bike path for added traffic safety.
