All net proceeds will be distributed to local charities, including the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Special Olympics, South Lake Tahoe Women's Center, Lake Tahoe Reading Council, El Dorado County Search & Rescue, Tahoe Youth & Family Services and Sierra Recovery Center.

CAL/NEVA BI-STATE TEAM RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is an incredibly beautiful loop around Lake Tahoe. The course is paved, with some up, some down, and some flat legs. For a detailed description of the course and individual legs [click here].


DATE & START:
September 6th, 2003 at Rockwater Bar & Grill, 787 Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe. Ultra starts at 5:00 am; Relay starts at 7:00 am. Ultra cut-off at 8:30 pm.


FEES & DEADLINES:
Entries postmarked by September 1st will be: Eight Person teams - $120, Solo Ultra - $60. For entries postmarked after September 1st: Eight person teams - $160, Solo Ultra - $75. Make checks payable to: America’s Most Beautiful Relay


AID STATIONS:
There will be 16 aid stations, located at each transition point and in the middle of each leg. Water will be available at every aid station. Food, fluids and porta potties will be available at the eight transition points.


PRE-RACE PACKET PICK-UP:
Race packets, race numbers, and T-shirts may be picked up at the ROCKWATER BAR & GRILL, 787 Emerald Bay Road, on Friday, Sept. 5th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Pasta specials will be available along with regular menu items. Late registration will be available at this time and at the starting line on Saturday morning at 4:00 am for the Ultra and 6:00 am for the Relay. Join us at the ROCKWATER BAR & GRILL for post-race dinner specials and to toast with a uniquely created "Relay Runner" drink at event prices.


DIVISIONS:

Eight Person Relay
  • Open & Masters Men
  • Open & Masters Women
  • Open & Masters Mixed (at least three of each sex)
  • RRCA Running Club Teams (RRCA club teams will compete in the same divisions as listed above for the over-all competition but will receive additional recogognition for how they place against other RRCA teams.)
  • Emergency Services (teams can be comprised of any combination of members from emergency service agencies within the same community or geographical area)


  • (Teams may not split legs between two or more runners on the same team and still be eligible for awards. You can split legs if absolutely necessary, you just won't be eligible for division awards.)

    Solo Ultra
  • Open Men
  • Open Women


  • (50-mile splits will be recorded for all ultra particpants and are Western States 100 qualifiying times.)


    AWARDS:
  • TEAMS DO NOT HAVE TO BE MEMBERS OF THE RRCA NOR ARE THEY REQUIRED TO LIVE IN CALIFORNIA OR NEVADA TO BE ELIGIBLE TO BE AWARDED AS THE CAL-NEVA BI-STATE TEAM CHAMPIONS

  • Special Road Runners Club of America Cal/Neva Bi-State Team Relay Championship award for first place team in each division.
  • Gift certificates for dinners at local restaurants for the first place finishers in every race and division.
  • Unique Event Mementos and T-shirts for all participants.
